Conduct
  • Users should be in proper attire and observe a reasonable code of conduct within the Library. The Dress code is as per stated in section 8.05 Kod Tatakelakuan Pelajar Universiti Tenaga Nasional. The Library staff may request any “improperly dressed” users to leave the Library.
  • User ID card must be worn at all times within the Library and all library transactions require user ID.
  • Materials such as bags, parcels, caps, and umbrellas are not allowed to be taken into the Library. The Library Is not responsible for any loss, damage or misplace of personal belongings. Users may report to the Security Department for any loss of items.
  • Handbags of size above 25cm x 30cm are not allowed to be taken into the Library, so as to avoid loss of Library materials.
  • Users are requested to silent-mode their hand phones while they are in the Library.
  • Library materials and furniture should not be moved or misused.
  • Most library materials are protected by the Copyright Act, 1967. Therefore, users are fully responsible for all photocopying done.
  • Study places may not be reserved in the Library. Items, including library materials left unattended on the reading tables or carrels may be removed by the Library staff.
  • Users are not allowed to bring children under the age of 12 into the Library. Children under the age of twelve are only allowed in designated areas at the Main Lobby (Level 2) where closely accompanied, at all times, by an adult.
  • All users leaving the Library in possession of books and Library materials must ensure that materials on loan have been scanned and synthesized. The Library is equipped with electronic security exit doors and CCTVs to detect violators.
  • Readers must take care of Library materials and must not deface them in any way, including by highlighting, underlining, writing or drawing in them or by removing any part of them. Bottles of ink may not be brought into the Library.
  • Library users shall respect the rights of other users to work quietly. Silence shall be maintained in silent study areas. Quiet study shall be maintained elsewhere, except in areas designated for group study. Mobile phones should be switched off or in silent non-vibration mode in the Library. Mobile phone use is only permitted in 24-hour Study Area and Main Lobby.
  • Eating and drinking are prohibited in all parts of the Library. However, bottled mineral water or drinking water are permissible.Library staff may remove any food or unlidded drinks found on tables or desktops. Hot food is not permitted in the building and users must not order take-away food to be delivered to or consumed in any part of the building.
  • Smoking, including the use of e-cigarettes, is not permitted anywhere in the Library premises.
  • Library users are responsible for the security of their own property. They must, if requested, submit their belongings for inspection as they leave the Library premises. Personal possessions must not be left unattended at any time or they may be removed and treated as lost property.
  • Study space may not be ‘reserved’ by leaving personal belongings
  • Readers using their own laptop computers and other devices do so at their own risk and are responsible for the safety and security of their equipment (including cables). They should be mindful of the safety of others by avoiding trailing wires. It is the responsibility of the owner to have such equipment tested for electrical safety, and use is conditional upon the owner’s acceptance of responsibility for damage to University property caused by their equipment.
